Research interests and expertise
|
Her research activity is centred on systems science
and systems modelling. Attention is given to their theoretical and philosophical
foundations, but the main research focus is on the application of the
systems approach to energy, industrial and logistics systems planning
and management. Her current research topics include: |
||||||||
|
1.
Industrial
Energy Systems Design and Management, especially distributed generation
systems and energy networks modelling and optimization; 2.
Location
problems and logistics systems design, with special attention to the
related energy and environmental issues; 3.
RAMS –
Reliability, Maintenance and Safety Management of industrial and mechanical
systems. |
||||||||
|
Her
main experience is in optimization modelling (experience in mixed integer
linear and non linear programming and working knowledge of GAMS, AMPL
etc.) and in empirical research and statistical modelling (working knowledge
of Statistica, SPSS etc.). She has also experience in simulation modelling
(reliability simulation, system dynamics etc.). |
||||||||
|
She’s been a reviewer for the scientific
journals: -
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical
Engineers Part A, Power and Energy -
Waste Management -
International Journal of Energy Research, for the scientific conference NOFOMA – Nordic Logistics Research Network and for the Chilean institution
Fondecyt – Fondo Nacional de Desarollo
Scientifico y Tecnologico. |

Some invited talks she has given include:
|
Professional activity and references
|
As a member of working groups or as a leading scientist,
she has been carrying out research and consulting for several firms
and local authorities in the fields of: |
|
1. Energy management, energy auditing and energy
supply optimization for industrial plants Professional
references: IAL F.V.G. and AmbienteItalia (assessment of energy saving opportunities
for a chemical company and a steel machining company); Anodica Trevigiana (efficient energy supply and distribution
for an industrial building); Maniago Nuoto (efficient energy supply for a swimming
pool). |
|
2. District heating and local energy systems
design Professional references: Industrial Union of |
